Alisha - New Earrings!

Since I've been totally swamped I've been lacking in quilting and crafting (which should be illegal in my opinion). I have been collecting some fun buttons and other items to make earrings for my 3 (almost 4) year old daughter. I don't know about the rest of you but my daughter losses earrings like there's no tomorrow and those little babies can get expensive. Since Ashley and I have metal allergies I assumed my daughter does as well, so her earring posts have to be surgical steel or real gold. With her losing them all the time real gold is out the window and surgical steel won out! With a little digging and craftiness I managed to complete 6 pairs of earring before running out of studs.

Take a look at all the fun designs I've made:

Teal/Black dragonflies

Pink flowers with stems (this is as close to a dangle as I'll let her get)
Purple Parrots (I also have hot pink and teal!)
Red hearts - these are a classic and I think I might've had a pair when I was a kid.
White Owls - these are so fun!

Yellow stars - think I may have had a pair similar to this as a kid as well.
Here is the group of earring together. They are so fun to make and I think I'm ready to share with others! I'll be posting these plus more in my etsy shop which can be found here. Please bookmark my shop and come visit often - I'll be starting my hairbows up again too! Keep an eye out for a code for my blog friends only shortly!

Alisha - Progress on the patchwork prism quilt

Hi there, it's Alisha! Where has the time gone recently? I finished up my spring term and managed a 4.0! Woohoo!!! I'm headed into my final year of college and I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel.

With that, I've been plugging away on my patchwork prism and I have to say I like the way it's turning out! I wouldn't have been able to do it without all the ladies on flickr who swapped fabric with me so I had a wider range of colors to use.

I can't say that the way it turned out was what I actually had in my head but it's still beautiful. Some of my darker range hexagons get lost in the business of the quilt but you can see the light at least. I'm in the process of quilting it now and look forward to cuddling under it when it's finished!

Ashley - 4th of July wreath

I can't believe that it's already time to gear up for the 4th of July! Independence day is my favorite holiday so I have had a bunch of fun figuring out how I want to decorate outside. Now this is just the first of a couple different things that I want to do so there will be other posts later on. I am also going to post better pictures in the morning when the sun is up so you can actually see what it looks like.

This was super simple to make it just took a little patience because of the time it took to cut out all of those stars but all this wreath is some felt a cardboard ring ( I used a tray to trace for my wreath ) I painted the cardboard red to hide it better and then I glued all the stars on like I wanted them and took a little piece of wire and hot glied that onto the back of the wreat for the hanger. And there you have it! Like I said I will have more pictures up tomorrow so check back! And make sure you check back to see what I did with my extra stars :)

UPDATE:
Better pictures as promised

Cabinet into a table - Ashley

Hey everyone!
I'm sorry I haven't been on, I have been down and out for a little while from a surgery so please forgive me. I inherited this cabinet from a friend because she put a cut out in her kitchen so she could see into the living room when cleaning after entertaining people and put a bar on the living room side of the cut out. It turned out very nice but she ended up having to get rid of some of her cabinets so she gave me the one that had gone over her sink. This is what I started with.

So I went out and got some stair rails to use as legs, some sand paper, paint, a couple hinges, handles, and a piece of wood for the top and got to work! This cabinet is laminate so I sanded it down and had my hubby build a top for me that would be hinged and would open so we could have a little nook to hide mail or something so my bar doesn't get cluttered with it anymore lol. I built a little frame with legs and set the cabinet on to attached it all together. Then I painted it all! Now this is only with one coat of paint on it but I was so excited to share I couldn't help it!

I will add more pictures later, I am also going to buy some wallpaper and put it in the interior of the cabinet to dress up everything so look back and I will update this post.
